The Forest Café Fuchstanz looks back at a long history. In the year 1882 the new shelter opened, built by the Taunus Club. 100 years before a charcoal burner worked here. This picture is from 1920, it shows that simple wooden hut. The mineral water and the utensils for cooking coffee were stored in a big hole in the ground of the forest. The coffee was prepared on a little oven in the open.

Here on top, electricity arrived not before 1973.

The mountain hut is serviced by Family Brendel both in summer and winter. They manage the Fuchstanz in second generation since 1960. The 40. anniversary called for a celebration. A proper big party took place on 15.12.2000 in a marquee with live-music and special low prices.
